Our freshwater fish division manages 72,000 total gallons of holding capacity, on 12 separate systems. This volume is balanced between 1275 glass aquariums and literally hundreds of vaults. Keeping 12 separate systems allows us to customize water quality for virtually any species of fish, providing a uniformly optimum care environment. All of this includes a 3200 gallon plant system, and over 20,000 gallons on 2 separate cold water (goldfish) systems. Our Asian fish system incorporates a true industry first, a very workable and amazingly effective recirculating system for male bettas. Our male betta system has allowed us to reduce our labor by 40 percent on this very labor intensive fish, and has completely eliminated any touching or handling steps. All of this has generated a dramatic improvement in the quality and health of what you would normally expect in a male betta. In addition, our freshwater people have borrowed a page from the food aquaculture transport manual in operating a livehaul truck for efficient and economical transport of incoming fish. Our livehaul truck runs weekly to local farmers in Arkansas and Florida, and brings back the finest in pond goldfish and locally raised Florida tropical fish. We are the only distribution company in our industry currently using this technology, and it effectively helps to keep us from being at the mercy of the domestic airlines.
